The above table uses data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports to compare Oshkosh Police Department clearance rates with national averages. The State of Wisconsin has not published UCR clearance rates since 2012. Violent crimes include homicide, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. Property crimes include burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson.

A case is considered cleared when an arrest is made, or when the identity and location of the offender have been established and there is probable cause to arrest, but a reason outside law enforcement control (such as death of the offender) precludes the arrest.
