WHAT DO I DO IF I FIND A STRAY DOG OR CAT?

If the Animal is “In Capture” (leashed, trapped, confined in shed or garage, etc):

Contact the Oshkosh Area Humane Society at (920) 424-2128 during normal business hours:

  • Sunday and Monday (and Holidays): Closed
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • Thursday and Friday: 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Saturday: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

If it is after the Humane Society’s business hours:

Contact the Non-Emergency Oshkosh Police Department phone (920) 236-5700.

Animals found outside the City Limits:

Contact the county or municipal official where the animal was found or you may bring it to the Humane Society during normal business hours.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT AN ANIMAL AT LARGE?

The Humane Society staff will not respond to dogs and cats running at large and not “in capture” after hours. They may be able to assist during business hours.

If the dog or cat is running loose in the roadway and causing a traffic problem, contact the Non-Emergency Oshkosh Police Department phone (920) 236-5700.

During Business Hours, contact the Oshkosh DNR office at (920) 424-3050.

After hours, contact the Wisconsin DNR 24 hour Customer Service/Question line: (888) 936-7463.

Oshkosh Police Department will NOT remove wild animals from residences; a private pest control service should be contacted.
