
ABOUT THE CITY OF OSHKOSH
The City of Oshkosh is located in the heart of the Fox River Valley on the west shore of Lake Winnebago. Oshkosh was first incorporated in 1853 and is a community of approximately 65,000 residents and encompasses an area of approximately 24 square miles. The City of Oshkosh operates under a Council-Manager form of government and involves many voluntary boards and committees.
The City of Oshkosh has many assets, including retail, manufacturing and educational facilities, including Prime Outlets, Oshkosh Truck, Bemis Corporation, Oshkosh B'Gosh, and the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh; as well as a wide range of recreational opportunities.
Oshkosh is the home of the world renowned Experimental Aircraft Association which attracts over 800,000 people from around the world to its annual Air Show. In addition, Oshkosh boasts a new hospital, a new YMCA with an indoor soccer and hockey rink, Country America, Sawdust Days, the Miss Wisconsin Pageant, Waterfest, and a Ducks Unlimited Festival.

The Oshkosh Police Department is a full service Law Enforcement Agency which employees 98 Police Officers and a Support Staff of 36 full and part time Civilian Employees.
The Oshkosh Police Department is Nationally Accredited (CALEA) and State Accredited (Wileag), and is regarded by many as one of the leading Law Enforcement Agencies in the State of Wisconsin.
