On August 29, 2025, at 4:38 PM, officers from the Oshkosh Police Department responded to a weapons complaint in the 600 block of Jackson Street. It was reported through the Winnebago County 911 Dispatch Center that there was a man inside a residence with a gun. While responding to the incident, an update was provided that the male had shot the gun and was still inside the residence. Upon the officer's arrival, a male matching the description of the man with the gun was encountered just outside of the residence where the incident originated. He was immediately detained without further incident. The residence and area were cleared of any other threats, and officers were able to confirm no injuries to anyone involved.

A search of the area from where the man was seen coming from before being detained produced a loaded handgun. The detained male was identified as a 50-year-old male from Michigan who was known to the residents of the home. He was transported to the Winnebago County Jail on a charge of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Felony in Possession of a Firearm.
