Subject: UPDATE: Shooting in the 700 Block of W. 9th Avenue
UPDATE: The victim has died from the gunshot wound sustained in this incident. Investigators from the Oshkosh Police Department are referring the 32-year-old male in custody for the charge of First Degree Intentional Homicide to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office.
OSHKOSH, WI (January 5th, 2026): The Oshkosh Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 700 Block of W. 9th Avenue in the City of Oshkosh.
On 01/05/2026 at approximately 01:27 PM, a male suspect entered the Oshkosh Police Department and told the telecommunications staff that he had just shot a male inside a residence. The suspect and the victim know each other, and this is an isolated incident.
Officers immediately responded to the residence and located a male victim inside with a gunshot wound. The Oshkosh Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital, and the victim is currently receiving medical treatment for life-threatening injuries.
The 32-year-old male suspect from Oshkosh was taken into custody for Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and Possession of Methamphetamine.
