Disturbance Complaint 800 block of John Ave
|
On June 11, 2026, around 10:23 PM, the Oshkosh Police Department received several reports of a large fight in the 800 block of John Ave. It was also reported to the police that a gunshot was heard.
Officers made contact with several individuals at the residence where the disturbance and reported gunshot were to have occurred. Officers maintained a presence in the area while the incident was investigated.
The Oshkosh Police Department Criminal Investigation Division responded to assist in the investigation. During the investigation, officers interviewed several individuals. It was learned later through an interview that what was believed to be a gunshot was actually a person lighting off a firework in the air. This was also confirmed independently from surveillance video.
Because this incident occurred in close proximity to the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, the UW Oshkosh Police Department responded. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. No arrests have been made at this time, and there is no threat to the public.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Oshkosh Police Department at 920-236-5700. If you have information about this incident, but wish to remain anonymous, please contact the Winnebago County Crime Stoppers at 920-231-8477; or through the P3 App.
