Drone Team

After the generous donation of a DJI Phantom Professional Drone by Straight Forward Crisis Management, four members of the Oshkosh Police Department became certified pilots and formed the first ever Unmanned Aerial System Unit. The drone is used in a variety of applications and tactical response efforts. Some of these include search and rescue, locating missing or endangered citizens, assisting in significant crash and crime scenes, promotional and recruitment videos and many other applications designed to keep our community safe.

In 2020, the Drone Team purchased a new drone, the DJI Mavic 2. The Team has been busy keeping up to date with the current laws surrounding the usage of Unmanned Aircraft Systems in our City, as the popularity for drones continues to grow.
